Hui Ying is a Chinese-born adoptee, as she has moved from across the Pacific and throughout the East Coast. Her practice focuses on creating intimate moments through her discoveries and limitations within the field of transparent objects. She has received her BFA from the University of Hartford Art School. Her art practices include book arts, three-dimensional perspective paintings, as well as sight specific interactive installation, Propaganda Pop-up, displayed at the University of Hartford 2021.

From books arts, paintings, perspective/shadow plays to installation, her newfound discoveries within transparency act as a vessel for in-between, but also as a device to convey clarity, fragility, vulnerability, and vacancy. In her most recent works, she touches upon China's socialist's experimentations of the one-child policy and its after-effects of women's suffrage, displacement, and environmental social-political challenges on both a national and global scale.
